We have a 5 1/2 yr old standard grey chin named Diezel. He just started two days ago swiping at his mouth after eating. He is eating pellets fine and hay ok. Havent seen any drooling. Guess I'm over cautious. Does anyone elses chin do this?

I have paid close attention today and yesterday and have only seen him do this 4 times total. It is random but new. Today he did swipe once after eating some pellets and once did a sort of choking/gaging thing. It really scared me. He has not lost any weight. Ate less hay today too. Not sure what to think. He is playing fine. His poop is a little smaller today? When I looked up chin swiping at mouth it has me scared.

The gagging motion coupled with the swiping makes me think teeth problems. Be it something stuck in the teeth, a gum injury, spurs, etc. If it continues I would get him in to the vet for a full oral exam (including x-rays).

It could be teeth, I would keep close eye on this chins weight and look for drool-early drool shows up when you pull back the lips and see if the front teeth are moist-any moisture on the front teeth or gums is a alarm bell, if I see that the chin is booked for a vet visit asap.
