Hey all, this is my first post on here, though I have been reading posts here since I first got my chinchilla, Molly, about 3 years ago. Her and I have been on a long and bumpy road together, and I'm afraid she might be having a little trouble.
I have not been able to take care of her for the past year. She has been taken care of by my ex boyfriend, who does a decent job taking care of her. I got her in my new apartment yesterday and I couldn't be more excited! (I just ordered her some new toys, if anyone has suggestions for chin toys, I would love that!)
Anyway, to get to the point, I got her all set up yesterday and gave her fresh food and water, but it seems she's not touching it much.
She has always, always, ALWAYS, done this weird thing where she will pull all the pellets out of her food bowl and just put them in a pile in front of it. She would typically end up eating that food, but it doesn't seem like she has eaten anything in the last day and a half. (Although, as I'm typing this, I saw her popcorn over and take a few bites.) But she has not touched her water at all. I'm really worried because I don't want her to be dehydrated. I felt her yesterday and she doesn't seem skinny. She's not acting funny, she's bouncing and popcorning around, she's playing with her toys and chewing her wood. She is also pooping normally.
How much water should she be drinking? And how long should I go before trying to do something about it? And what would I even do? I have no idea what to do here, I would love if someone had some advice. Thanks in advance! :)

Its all in the poo, that tells the story. If the poo has not changed, she is eating and drinking, just doing it differently in the new environment, some chins take a bit of time to settle down and get back to normal.

Are you giving her hay?
As Dawn said... I wouldn't worry if her poop seems normal. :]

Maybe I should also add that her molars are in great condition and she will gnaw on just about anything!
