I have 4 chins and out of those one is far smarter then the others he can solve any obstical I place in his way. The others are not as old and can still learn so I thought Id see what you do to help your chins become smart and learn problem solving skills?

Mine listen to Public Radio, makes them well informed about world events and issues.

You are my new favorite person.

My eldest is the most clever, as well. She knows how to get what she wants, when she wants. The other chins are my babies. I am her slave.

I don't know much about chin training, but I do know they are a LOT more intelligent than people give them credit for. Mine listen to country. I tried classical, but the aforementioned crafty girl complained.

Mine love it when my fiance plays the guitar and when ther out they run around like nuts.... lol lol i'll have to take a video of it and post it on here...

Mine does the same thing. She never popcorns and wall surfs as hard as she does when someone is playing the acoustic guitar in my room. I haven't done it when she's out of her cage because I think she'd literally make a hole in the wall like a rocket when bouncing, it's crazy.

As far as training, I have no idea, never tried anything I think I'm still going to be figuring chins out for a while before I can even grasp the fact that I could work with them like that.

Treats. If I tell Crash "go to bed" and rattle the oats/shreddies container, he knows that he'll get a treat if he sits on the shelf in his cage. If I tell him "scale" and rattle the container, he sits on the scale and waits for his oats (and sometimes he just goes and does it even when I'm not planning to weigh him). They're definitely smart enough to learn things, but some are quicker than others. Reinforcing things you want with rewards like healthy treats and toys will encourage them to learn whether they're naturally inclined to it or not. :)

Mine are all trained to come when called, they know the term "stop it", they know the word "stash" for their evening lifeline treat, all kidding aside!

I agree with the treats comment. My oldest has obviously been here the longest and is probably the fattest  so if he hears a simple movement of a treat box, he comes running and begging. Now my middle is probably the smartest and can figure out almost anything, but he's also the most stubborn. it just depends on the chin. but all of them will come to the front of their cage with a kissy noise and i can usually get them to run in their cages with the shake of a treat. they're smart creatures, but they're only obedient when they want to be!
