AZChins
Pro Cage Cleaner Champion
The thread about the bedbugs got me thinking about this.
A little background. I have all my chins in my house in three bedrooms, there are usually between about 240 and 260 chins here. Everyone is dusted twice a week, and I clean the cages and thoroughly vacuum all the fuzz and dust off of all surfaces each and every tuesday and friday.
This past tuesday I was on the phone with a customer and decided that the room looked pretty good without going over the outside of the cages, racks and everything else with the shop vac to get all the fuzz and dust off. Friday rolled around and I cannot tell you how much fuzz was stuck to everything...it was like 10 times what normally is there on a regular cleaning day. On Sundays I do the same to bridge the gap between cage cleaning days. If I didn't vacuum everything and wipe down the walls and doors, it would be really bad in there in just four days or so. Granted, it's the herd's time to make much more fuzz than usual...still, it would get bad other times of the year if I let it.
My question is to people that have maybe just a few chins: How long until you get dust and fuzz build up in your house or around the cage? Do you actively have to clean up to make sure that you don't get it or does just regular house cleaning do the job?
This information could be helpful so that I know what to tell customers. It's been so long since I have had only a couple cages of chins...I don't remember what it was like! I remember the dust and fuzz not being any problem for some reason...but I could be remembering incorrectly.![Smile :) :)](data:image/gif;base64,R0lGODlhAQABAIAAAAAAAP///yH5BAEAAAAALAAAAAABAAEAAAIBRAA7)
