Ive come to seek the experts advice.

I've had my chin since September now (he is 5)and he has changed very little. When I first got him he was very forward and not scared at all and he is still the same. He is this friendly with people he has just met as with me which is unusual. So I've been trying to bond with him more and following suggestions ive found on the forums. ive tried sitting by the cage door but whenever I open the cage door it is an opportunity for him to escape, he will do anything: jump over my head, scramble up my jumper. I think this may be because I've underestimated him in the past and he knows he can get out and he just loves my room (where he is not normally allowed to run around). I know some chins aren't cuddly or a accept scritches but any advice would be gladly appreciated on how to bond a bit more with him and stop him escaping! :)

Mips is very similar--super adventurous and basically fearless around people, and very eager to get out and explore the room every chance he gets. I have a double-level FN and because of the larger doors, am able to basically block off the opening by sticking my head and upper torso in through the door like this:

He still tries to get out sometimes by heroically bounding for my shoulders, but most of the time he's now happy to romp around my arms and play elevator by sitting in my hand and having me lift him onto his tube, his hammock, etc--when he's sleepy, he'll sometimes snuggle up against my elbow and fall asleep if I make a circle around him with my arms and form a "roof" with my chin (the one on my face!)

It's not perfect since I lack the appropriate corners and girth to block the opening 100%, so when he's feeling impish he'll try and make a dash for it (pretending to go back in his hut and then sprinting towards the door as fast as he can, little devil), so sometimes it takes a bit of moving my head and shoulders to block the openings that he's going for, but he doesn't seem too irked by our face-offs and I think it's a bit of a fun game for him, and in the process gets him used to climbing on me :)

Thanks for the reply and the graphic! ;) that pretty much sums up my Steve. ive tried blocking the door but never put my head in so I might try it,it would be sweet if he snuggled! He tries to escape much more in the evening so I might try doing it more in the afternoon when he is still sleepy. Mips sounds a real sweety!
