I guess I can join the club of people who have had their chinnies escape their cage.
I wake up at the crack of dawn this morning to find the bottom door of Chimney's cage open, he figured out how to unlatch the door- I had checked it and my roommate checked it. So I flip, wake up my roommates and go on a chinchilla search. I start making anything and everything into a dust bath while my roommate goes into the other room where amazingly enough chimney is and hiding under a futon. After much back and forth, dustbaths all over the place and a carrier which luckily he's become pretty used to since I take him to and from play-time in it, I got him in and back home safe. Extra measures taken to lock the doors (I'm not taking any chances with the other door) to latches he can't undo, I looked him over and he looks fine plus I didn't find any chewed cords amazingly.
Nothing like a heart attack first thing in the morning! I love this little guy and am so glad to have awesome roommates to keep me from completely losing it!
