I just had a quick question about the chillin' blocks. When you place it in the cage do you just put it in as is? I noticed that it sweats as it warms up.

I just put mine in as is. I have not noticed them sweating at all. Then again I've also never seen Shelly use hers.

That could be the reason. Can you get your hands on granite? I think moisture would soak through a cover.

I keep the granite ones in my cage all the time, but I don't put them in the freezer or anything. Granite stays cold enough on it's own.

If you are needing an extra cool spot on a hot day, have you tried frozen water bottles wrapped in fleece? The fleece absorbs the condensation in that situation. My girls like those even on a not-so-hot day!

I also have granite ones in the cages all the time. They don't sweat and I toss them in the sink with some vinegar and water to clean them. I just bought floor tiles (they were $2.99 each!) instead of the "Chin Chillers" at $8.99 for a smaller piece.

The online store that I buy from has them. I will make sure to get a granite block or two on my next order. Thanks! :)

I wouldn't bother paying shipping on a granite tile. You can just go to any local hardware store and pay a whole lot less.
