Ok, I looked over the previous couple threads on terracotta pots, but I just want to be safe and repetitive.

Yesterday I finally dumped my last panful of bedding (hooray!) and put in one of Shiina's new fleece liners. Just so she didn't get into any trouble wiggling under it, I put a wood house in one corner(previously was bolted to cage, now sitting on liner), the litter pan in another, a terracotta pot in another, and her wheel's in one corner.

She didn't seem terribly surprised or interested really in the total change of flooring. Anyway, around 3:30 am I was awakened by the sounds of her chewing on the terracotta(and banging it around in it's corner). Yes, her cage is a few feet from my bed, but I've grown completely deaf to the usual sounds (running top speed on her wheel, chewing on all things except terracotta, apparently, etc) I took the pot out to be safe, and so I could get back to sleep, but she really seemed to like it, so, I feel bad.

I got the pot at Home Depot, and it says "Made in Italy," so I'm doubtful it has lead. If I do put the pot back in, I'll need to figure out a way to secure it so she can't bang it around.. But just for confirmation (lead content aside) is terracotta safe for chins to chew on? It just sounded so.. nails on chalkboard-y. Maybe I'm just not used to the sound because she doesn't really like chewing on white pumice, which would be the closest thing in her cage in hardness to terracotta.
