My male rescue, Moshi, is driving me insane. He chews and destroys everything in his cage. His brand new hanging toys that came yesterday lasted 24 hours! His toss toy was laying in several pieces sprawled across his cage. He waste so many chew sticks, he is going to make me broke :p He only chews about 1/4 of them before tossing them aside. I can't give them to my other chins because he is in quarantine.

I was wondering is anyone could suggest twig/chew stick types most chins seem to like? I'm not sure what type of chew sticks I have now, I forgot what I ordered. I'm going to have to make a special order so he has his own stash. I've never seen such a fussy chin! My other boys chew any stick I give them.

When the girls broke apart their toss toy I just kept the pieces in there for them. They've continued to chew the pieces. One piece is completely missing... so either they chewed it to death or I threw it away without noticing. With hanging toys I've been known to take off the chewed bits and rearrange them so that new sides can be chewed. Or take off the destroyed pieces and replace only them with new. The girls are destroying their toys but because they're hanging there's still more yet to destroy. I plan to hang some of their haycubes soon as the one hanging toy with the cubes are being eaten but when I put in loose cubes they don't get chewed as much.

I don't know about other chins but Scoops loves the poplar and apple sticks I got from Ronda. Have you tried other things like pumice or loofah?

He ignored the loofa. I would have to order some pumice, I have never tried it with my chins.

Oh I forgot to mention... my girls love cholla. I got a stuffed one from Brittany and they go crazy for it. The nice thing is it seems to last a long time compared to sticks and such. They destroy toss toys fairly quickly but the cholla is still around and still being enjoyed.

my chin loves willow....but willow seems to break down fast! lol.....another good one is apple that seems to last longer when I offer that.....I did find these great willow sticks they are about a foot long and thicker and this pack lasted me 3 weeks if you dont want to order online they have these in stores
also there are some great vendors here too that sell sticks if you do order online

You can get him twirlie sized sticks of different types instead of twigs, and when he quits chewing on them you can string them onto a toy. That will make them all "new" again. :))

Lol, thanks for the idea! I will look into that with the whirlies! Now he is beginning something new. He chews small parts of bark off of a couple of sticks, then ignores them. Im debating trying to wait him out. Stop giving him new sticks till he chews the ones he has! I don't think that will work though...he is pretty stubborn.
