I am selling a cage that used to house chins and the person is going to use it for rats. I took all the wooden shelves out. There is 1 wire shelf and the wire spacing is 1" x 1/2" is that ok. What do people put in rat cages, shelves, tubes, etc.
Wire shelving for rats should not be more than 1/2" x 1/2". The 1/2" x 1" is the perfect size for a rat foot to go into and be a problem to pull back out if they manage to twist it. Rats can have tubes, shelves, hammocks.
