So I decided to do an ALMOST full cage clean (everything but the wooden ledges). I cleaned everything else in a water/vinegar solution. Does this get everything truly clean? I cleaned the bottom floor, the plastic shelf, food bowl, and litter box. So is everything fully clean now?

Another question is about the bedding. I have several fleece liners and this is my first time washing one. I put it in separate on 16 minute heavy duty wash, with 2 rinses. I put a tad of detergent because I didn't know if the smell would bother them. No fabric softner and I plan on letting it air dry. Is this the proper way to clean my liners?

And last question, what do I do to clean the wooden ledges, and hidey house? I know wood absorbs, so I didn't know how to properly clean them? Any information would be greatly appreciated.

Thanks in advance!

I use a water vinegar mix to clean my cage and it works well for me.

For washing liners, if you want to add a little vinegar next time, that will help take the pee smell out after time.

As far as cleaning wood goes, I wipe them down with the water and vinegar mix and then sand them down a bit to get any staining off. I've heard some people use peroxide to clean stains, but I just sand.

I did a cage cleanning a week ago and used water and cleaner !! i washed it off good. but i think when i do it again i'll use vinegar instead .. i didn't know you could use vinegar . how much should i use ??

You shouldn't use any chemical cleaner as they do tend to chew the bars and things and you may not get it all of. I have used bleach once in the lifetime of my cages but then you have to be sure and rinse super well.

I use either a peroxide/water or a baking soda/water mix to clean my ledges and any other wood items in the cages. The peroxide foams up and brings to surface all of the grime and urine and feces and then I rinse with boiling water and let dry outside in the sun. For those stubborn stains, I use a fine grain sanding block to sand them down after they are dry.

I use straight peroxide on my wood. There is no need to rinse it since peroxide breaks down into water. Just let it dry thoroughly.

That's more for peace of mind then anything, really! I tend to rinse everything I wash..I even rinse my laundry before I wash and then run the rinse cycle twice. (, I know! )
