I think it would work for a chinchilla. The one problem I have is the grate. You should cover all of that with something or remove it if you do go with this cage. Honestly, if you would, the single level ferret nation would fit a chin and it's only $10 more for the single level. I hope this helps!

0. The suggested minimum is 24x24x36" for 1-2. All the shelves and ramps would need replaced with solid wood or covered in fleece as well.

Well, I wouldn't use this cage. You could always order it from Petsmart and have it shipped to a store. That would save money. I know they carry at least one critter nation in Petsmarts.

If you buy this is only $125 for cage and shipping. That's a great deal. Those cages are expensive.

The cage you linked to... I have one here that I use for babies if I'm absolutely out of other cage space... but it's tiny. I wouldn't want to put an adult in there unless I had no other reason to. And for the price, you could find better cages, even in the pet stores.

ETA: on both cages, you'd want to replace the shelves/ledges with wood ledges.
