if they says it is galvanized, does it mean galvanized after weld?
or do i need to find the one specifically says galvanized after weld?

also about Elfa's shelves, are you talking about the metal wire rack or the solid one?

sorry for so many questions!

I think all the hardware cloth is galvanized after welding, as when I've cut it, all the corners seem thicker - never had one any other way.

No, the ones that are galvanized after welding will have gaw right on it.

The lowe's here only carries the galvanized before weaving stuff. In fact, most stores do because it is cheaper, the gaw is far more expensive and you often have to request it.

It is difficult to tell apart unless you have two side-by-side. Obviously the gaw stuff breaks down more quickly. As in it may last 5-10 years instead of the 50-60 I'm seeing of the old breeder cages.

Just ask the people, if they can't help you ask to see their order sheet. It'll say right on it 1/4" x 1/4" GAW Hardware Cloth.

thank you.
i think i will check around to see if there's any store carries something GAW on it.

by the way, how about those shelves such as elfa or metro's chrome looking ones?
I used one of them as part of my cage right now, and i was almost not to use on our next one because of the cost, however, the one soqrbrad mentioned is really affordable price, and i am considering using them.
I don't know what kind of metal they use, but does anyone know if they are safe metal for chins?

I'd send a message to cupcakexo228 and see if she has had any problems with them. As far as I can tell they are of the same type of material as the FN cages and most other cages, powder coated metal. As long as the chinny isn't peeling the powder coat off and eating it, it should be fine.
