hi guys! Quick question. I bought my baby Jazz from a breeder not long ago. She was not used from breeding by the breeder, so she had on a breeding collar. The women tried to remove it, but failed. She said her husband knew how to remove it, but he wasn't around. Living 2 and a half hours away I couldn't really wait around, and would rather not make the trip back up there. I have never bred chins so I have no idea how to remove one. The breeder said she was as big as she was going to get so it shouldn't be a problem in terms of growth, but I'd rather her not have it on (I can be a paranoid soul, lol.) So how 'bout it? Anyone know how to remove a breeding collar?

Most just have a slide type clip, but some have rivets.
Hopefully it's a brass rivet, and you can just put a screwdriver between the 2 pieces and twist it, pulling the small end of the rivet through the hole.
It's best to wrap the chin in a towel, and have someone else hold it, as you may need two hands.

Eh, breeding collars are used on females who ARE in breeding. There's no reason to collar a female if she's not going to bred, so there's either a mix-up or the breeder you went to has different practices.

I'm used to the collars with rivets, I've never seen one with a clip. If it's a rivet one, you just find the rivet, hold either end of the collar and pull them apart (one end toward her head, one end toward her tail). The rivet should pop out of one side. Then pull the ends away from each other the other way (one end toward each of her front feet) so the collar opens up kind of like a clam shell, and slip it off her neck.
