Hi,
We are newbies, my husband and I, to the world of *****.

We rescued one chinchilla that was left to die in a cardbox outside the dog pound here in my town.

Fortunately, we already had a huge double deck cage (like ferret cage) beds, equipments because we rescue pets from time to time.

But this one is here to stay. We named him tchitchi. It's a boy and we have no idea of his age.

We already took some pictures of him but we thought it was enough for his first day at home.

Any tips are welcome. pm us?
Dora and hubby

Welcome Dora. :)

Any questions you have, please post them in open forum, that way you can get lots of different opinions and advice and choose which one works best for you, that will benefit the safety and health of your new fuzzy. Via PM, you may not get the best advice, and there's no way to refute it because no one will see it.

Welcome! I'm so happy to hear you're going help this little guy out - he deserves a second chance. There is a lot of reading material here, that covers everything about food, hay, chews for their teeth, dust baths, temperature, and everything else. If you then have specific questions, be sure to post them and we would love to help you out.

:welcomewagon: Hello Dora, welcome to the forum! It's so great that your husband and yourself rescued a chinnie, congratulations!

Bonjour Dora, it's always nice to see some Quebecker here! Sadly there are not much place to shop for anything chinnie in the area (assuming you are in greater Montreal), but there's a member here that sells accesories. Bonne chance!

I am living 7 hours, east from Montreal, in a rural region. You have no idea how far I am:)LOL

And the only things I find for chins are at the pet store. Yes, the ones selling pets. yuk. It is either that or nothing.
I will be on the look out to see if somewhere else there are things, like his dust, I can buy somewhere else.
As for the food, I already have a rabbit so they will share the timotey hay, orchard hay and a tad of alfalfa :)
pellets I am nt sure if I should give him (the chin ones) because I have no clue of his diet before)

 Hi and welcome to CnH

Well I know some people give rabbit pellets, since I only got a chin I give Oxbow Chinchilla, the only good brand I can get easily at my vet. I get my dust from Anne-Lise, wich is a member here.
