I usually only have to apply it once or twice. If a lot of applications are necessary than the problem may be much more serious and antibiotics are needed

My vet gave me an antiseptic/cleansing solution. I did foot soaks twice a day for 3 weeks, until the wound closed up. I liked it better then Blu-kote (which I've also used) it didn't stain the area so I was able to keep a better eye on potential infections.

Do you know what the antiseptic solution was? Even if their is no bone showing, are soaks recommended?

Hahaha...I read the title of your thread, and I clicked on it expecting to see some sort of madcap caper of you applying Blu-kote to your chin and it escaping and staining the dish washer, the stove, the refrigerator, the blender...etc....I guess you meant "applications", not actual appliances (machines)

I never use antiseptic soaks for chinchilla foot wounds. IMO they are unnecessary & I would not recommend them.
