A few months ago while cleaning my chinchilla's cage some dried blood was found on her shelf. We checked her over and took her to the vet, and found that nothing was wrong so I didn't worry very much.
I was just feeding her a few minutes ago, and I found some little blood droplets on her shelves, again.
I have absolutely no idea what it could be from seeing as she's acting completely normal, and there's only a tiny bit.
Should I really start worrying and bring her to the vet again, or just keep an eye on her?

Thanks!

I know my one female often has a dark discharge that sort of looks like blood when she's in heat. Are you sure it's blood?

Are you positive it's blood and not urine? Chins urine is very dark and is often mistaken for blood.

Chins don't have menstrual cycles like humans Ash, so if you're girl is having blood during the time of her heat cycle, I would be concerned.

i thought my chin was bleeding early on also and it turned out to be urine. very concentrated urine looks orange and when it dries it does look reddish.

No, it wasn't blood, just like this darkish... stuff. I only ever saw it twice. My pet rat had something very similar when she was in heat.

Rats shouldn't have a discharge when they are in heat either.

It's seriously a really tiny amount, and I've checked her over and her feet look fine. I mean, it could be concentrated urine but it sure does look a lot like blood. She's probably fine. Just a paranoid owner :)

Is the blood you just seen fresh? Can you dab ir with a paper towel or something? Just to be 100% certain it is in fact blood and not just urine...also if you can u can maybe take the papertowel with you to the vet and show him/her that it is indeed blood.
Other then that i would check the teeth just to make sure she didn't poke something in her gums/throat. Maybe she got a piece of hay stuck?? Just an idea...hope it works out for you
