Ok, so, since I know there's quite a few on this forum who read this series, I figured it was high time to start a thread for the books to discuss. What do you like/dislike? What would you like to see in upcoming books? Laurie, what secrets do you have for us from the JR Ward meet-n-greet? :neener: What's your favorite book so far?

My favorite story so far has been Rhage's. I thought the cancer thing was slightly over the top, but the way the story all played together in the end made me absolutely love it. I was ready to beat the SV down when she was going to take Mary from Rhage! Then again, I find myself wanting to beat her more through the books for this or that statement or action.

And does anyone else want to see Qhuinn and Blay end up together, despite Qhuinn's setbacks on the whole issue? I'm getting ready to start Rhev's story tomorrow! And I'm so so so so so happy to see Tohr back!

First of all, and not to make anyone jealous, J R Ward is an amazing person to meet in person! She is totally not what I expected and what a true joy to meet her.
My favorite book has been the story of Mary and Rhage. I cry EVERY time I read this book. The part where Rhage leaves and goes outside and he hears pounding, thinking it's his broken heart, but turns to find Mary barrelling outside and she launches herself at him and says, "I'm not all right, I'm not all right!" BAWL FEST!
Next to Rhage I love Z's story. He is such a pained man and I find it so interesting that J R created a story where a hero does not feel worthy of love. In typical romance novels it's always the heroine full of self doubt.
I disliked Phury's story the most. I'm a ROMANCE reader and I kept thinking "where's the romance? Where are Cormia and Phury in this story?"
Rehv's story brought the romance back for me. Rehv's story anther crier book for me.
J R has stated John Matthew's book will be next. I'm a bit upset. I've been waiting FOREVER for Torhment to find love again. BUT J R promised Tohr's story would be great. I mean come on for him to find another shellan who has to see the name of his first great true love tattooed on his back? How awful is that? How to you find the way to get around that? Tohr's second love is going to have to be such an amazing woman. So I'm not sure, will she be human? or not?
I discovered BDB LONG before the fad of Twilight and when grown up women ask me about Twilight, I tell them I prefer my vampire's much more grown up.
I love Alpha males--and the Brother's are all that and more!
One thing I will say. I know a lot of reader's were disappointed by Jane and V's story. But to me there was nothing wrong with Jane being "less" than what you might expect. I don't want to ruin anything for anyone not yet reading the story.
I think being a writer is the greatest gift ever bestowed upon anyone. Sure actors can act but without the medium to give you the material where are you? What are you? Writer's create a whole new world to us--where OUR brain, OUR imagination run free. It's amazing to me, truly amazing.
Besides BDB the other vampire series I read is Midnight Breed by Lara Adrian. She has 6 books out now, with the latest just released. While they might seem similiar in that the males are VERY alpha, Lara Adrian's Breed's are different than the Brothers. But I enjoy both series very much for what they are.
It seems odd you could find love and tenderness amongst fighting and a creature that must drink blood to sustain life, yet tenderness and love between the warriors and their shellan's between the brothers is what you do find.
Amazing series, amazing books. Everyone of them is kept by me and will never be given up.

I have to say that I've read the first 4 books with an absolute obsession! I am kind of afraid of Phury's book because Ive read it deviates from the one main character focus and follows 3 of them simultaneously...And also, what do you think about the fact that Rhevenge has a book but isn't part of the brotherhood? I mean I like that the books keep going because I love the series but hmm...

This is first series I've read since the Left Behind series and I will probably read it at least two or three more times!!!

I did not like Phury's story at all! But I will say I loved Rehv's book. It reminded me of my favorite of the bunch-Rhage and Mary--there is no greater love in the Brotherhood than that of Rhage and Mary IMO

Phury's was my least favorite as well. Rhev's was awesome, but like Laurie, my very favorite book is Rhage and Mary. :)

I think I like Rhage's book the best so far as well...I didn't like how Jane turned to a ghost in book 5 though - seemed like a weak ending...but I didn't want her to die either so Im not sure what I really wanted to happen. I liked Z's book a lot too...have you all read the insider's guide? I just bought it...I think the logical sequence is to read it after the sixth book...right?

I have not read the insider's guide and don't know that I will. I also have not picked up her new Covet series about fallen angels--but plan on it!

I read it. The interviews with the guys are really fun to read, but the back of the book is boring unless you (Laurie) aspire to be a writer. It's pretty much a lesson on "how to" by JR.

You mean The Fallen Angels? :neener: No, but it does tie in BDB a little w/ the city, the club, and a character. I'm PRETTY sure I just got passed a Phury cameo, too!

I love the series. My favorite books were either V's, or Rhevs.

I picked up the Covet the day it came out. Other then reading the first few pages, I haven't read it yet--just don't have time lol.

I just finished Phury's book and I liked it more than I had expected to...although I did feel like I wanted more focus on Phury and Cormia I really liked the set up for the next book...I skipped over parts where the wizard was talking so that part didn't really bother me haha. i really liked the novella in the insider's guide, although I dont think she dealt enough with Bella's trauma from the abduction (which she admits in the guide) and think that would have really added to the story with her and Z if they had to work through that together...

Haven't read Covet . . . yet. I'm focusing on my shifter series by Shelley Laurenston and The Others series by Cynthia Eden which both ROCK!

And I'm still waiting JR--anxiously freaking waiting for Tohr's story!!!!
