Well-I've had my share of bad luck today. One of my girls was due tomorrow, labored this morning. By 9:30 she delivered a healthy little boy weighing 61 grams. I took my son shopping, lunch, then dropped him off at school. I was supposed to go to hubby's work and pick him up for lunch but something told me to go home first and check on my girl. I got home at 12:15and found she had not delivered the second, kit was not stuck, but she looked exhausted and her contractions were ineffective. Hopped in the car with her and went over to hubby's work. He was in an emergency so I couldn't get her seen until 1:00. He gave her oxytocin and at 1:10 she delivered a healthy little girl weighing 62 grams.

I wish the story ended there but she has lost quite a bit of blood when she passed the placenta. Because oxytocin helps contract the uterus we are hoping it will help with the bleeding...so an eye is on her for now.

Here's hoping for a healthy mom also.

She's doing well thus far. No more bleeding from what I can tell. I'm so glad this happened today and not tomorrow. Working a 16 hr shift with noone to check in on my chins could of been devastating for me.

She'll be alright. Sometimes there just ends up being so much blood in some litters. It seems like a huge deal because most of the time there's barely any blood!

Don't worry too much...I know you're keeping a close eye on her. Her uterus will contract and she will start closing up in a few hours...and then you will know that she's just fine! She had some really big kits there...she needs some rest. :D

I'm glad you were able to stop by home and check on all. Congrats on the two healthy kits, and mom sounds like quite the fighter, so I'm sure she'll be ok too!

Good thing you were able to check on her and get her some help! Good luck with her and the babies. Hopefully she recovers quickly from this and at least the babies are healthy and she didn't need a C-section!

She is Lucky and so are you. I had the same thing happen in March but in the end me and the vet lost mom and the 2nd kit

glad all is well now and you got the motherly instict to stop home and check on your babies. hope everything is continuing to improve, cant wait to see the babies. congrats on the kits and everything looking up
