Best Vacuum Cleaner??

I'm glad this is a topic here, I am in the market for a new vacuum, mine is some sort of Bissel, it clogs constantly, piece of JUNK.
My boyfriend says it's my fault because of the poo and hay, but I pick up all the big pieces of hay, and leave just basically the tiny pieces that make their way into the carpet, so if I have to pick up all hay and poop by hand before vacuuming, whats the point of having a vacuum?!
So I am going to look into a few that have been mentioned here.

My housemates went through everything up to a Dyson. It is still going strong after two years of hard abuse - but they only have cats, dogs and a ferret. If I had carpets I'd fork out the money for one.

She does not vacuum up hay with it, only shavings and poo. No indoor vacuum is meant for hay and will probably not stand up to that type of usage. I used to use a shop vac then come back with a normal vacuum to pick up the dust.

My old vaccum died and I was saving up for a dyson, but unfortunately, it died before I had enough so I HAD to get one that day...or it would have been ugly! I went to HHGregg and got a eureka pet hair vaccum..its purple and white...I forget the exact name of it but its AWESOME it actually does what it says and gets right up to the baseboard and picks that stuff up too! in fact...the suction is so good that when you get near something like a piece of carpet (my cats scratch the heck out of their carpeted scratching post and peices get everywhere) anyway..If Im even 3" away from a piece, it will suck it up without even going over it!

I have the Bissell Pet Hair Eraser, and I LOVE it!! It's the best vacuum cleaner I've ever had, hands down. It has excellent suction, all sorts of attachments and such to vacuum different surfaces, and it has two filters (one is a HEPA, not sure about the other one) to filter dust and allergens.
