I recently got my little baby girl. For the first couple weeks I used old towels for bedding. I do not like wood shavings, as they are so messy. I have a critter nation 162 cage. I know someone who has a similar cage, she uses bath mats for bedding. I thought about doing this, or making fleece liners. Any reasons a bath mat that is not looped wouldn't work? I feel like bathroom mats would be durable, they are made to get wet and washed repeatedly. Please give me suggestions!! :)

Also, she doesn't seem to have one single spot for peeing, any ideas on how to litter train her? (Litter suggestions, litter pan placement, etc.) I am wondering if she will start to choose one place as she adjusts to my place more. Any ideas?

Materials that are not made of fleece are dangerous for your chinchilla because if they chew on them they can ingest the small strings that make up the fabric and that can cause serious health complications. Anti-pill fleece does not fray and produce those oh-so-indigestible threads that other fabrics (such as cotton) produce and are therefore safe for your chin. That being said, if your chin is a fleece chewer then do not use fleece either (you could consider tiling your cage instead). I use fleece in my cage and I find it quite durable :)
