Bass Pans

Alright... So I've been trying to decide whether to get bass pans. Currently I have two Critter Nations. Both chins are litter trained, though one tends to pee in other places as well.

The only think stopping me from buying them is the fact that I won't be able to keep the fleece down without completely rearranging the cage, and I quite like them how they are. I don't want the chins tossing the fleece all over the place...

I do have a 1x1 ft tile in both cages. I could get more tiles but that would take away from the fleece... I love seeing the patterns and I don't want the other chin peeing on the tiles.

I also don't want to have to make all new liners.
Suggestions? I could try and sew ties on the fleece? I just don't know.

Also how noisy are they? My cages are in my bedroom so I try to keep things relatively quite.

I have two Ferret Nations, and the bass pans are actually great and much quieter than plastic. For fabric liners, I simply ordered 3 yards of fleece and cut them to size (a little larger than the pan so it folds under and are held down by granite slabs in the corners). The fleece does have to be washed every 10-14 days (more frequently if your chins are not litter trained) and has to be vacuumed daily, but overall looks great, mutes the sound of their jumps, and protects the bass pans. The pans themselves do have to be cleaned every month or so just to preserve the cleanliness and state. I have a pad type liner inside the pan in a FN, and a couple yards of fleece under it to deaden any noise. It's MUCH quiter than my CN that still has a plastic pan covered in fleece, and the sides of the pan keep in more poop. Not really any other issues/differences. Well I guess you loose the space of the actual sides of the pan- I dont notice it, and I'd rather have that than the bump at the edge of the plastic. Same basic care though.

I already use fleece, I just don't want to trash the old liners if I do get the bass pans

The way my cages are, I have to wheel them around to get the pans out and it's annoying... since I use the pillowcase style liners, I have no way around taking them out. That's another reason why I want the bass pans... I won't have to remove them all the time.

I just don't know how to keep the fleece from moving around without covering it in tile. I can sew new ones and make them bigger but I don't have that option with the old ones.

I would opt for sewing ties to the corners of the fleece. It seems to me the ties should be able to keep it in place. Just make sure that the ties are long enough for the fleece to lay flat. You can also put a piece of fleece between the bottom of the pans and the wire that holds it up. No more banging when they jump.

So I decided to go ahead and order a set... If I don't like them I can always see if someone here would want them.

Does anyone have photos of how they set their cages up with the pans?
