Hi everybody, not too long ago I posted a thread where my chin Minato started to have a bald spot. I’d say it was the size of a penny but now I’ve noticed that it’s the size of three quarters put together. I provided a video down below. I started noticing that he does scratch/ pull on that area. I’ve continued looking around the area to see some redness or some type of concern, but I don’t see anything. His hair is slowly growing back and I was told last time that it could take up to months but I’m just scared it might be a bigger issue now that he’s been pulling at it. I clean around twice a day and I haven’t seen any clumps of hair that he could’ve possibly pulled out. Does anybody have any advice whether I should take him to a vet or if I should leave it alone since there’s no redness?
If you also know a trusted vet that works with chins around LA or San Diego area, could you let me know? I know most vets don’t work with exotic animals.

Since it's ongoing and getting bigger I would get it checked out by the vet just to rule out a medical issue. Aside from fungal infection a common reason for fur chewing is pain, they bit and pull the fur out to try to get rid of the pain. Other causes can be stress or boredom, similar to someone chewing their nails.

Unfortunately I don't know of any vets in CA. However doing a quick looking up of vets listed on a chin FB page I'm on I see there are
http://www.morenapethospital.com/mo...BnZP7wIQ8zeAVfVFK2ssovHL333Azg8CrQQisJQjEsS7U and
https://www.drexotic.com/?fbclid=IwAR1NWGgL8jadT5QgNDx_QveRVpoFVDE-WaOsBZYcvkpJjKM44W8s-g-0c1Ein San Diego, I can't vouch for either though, just places people have said they have gone.

Thank you! Yea I just want to make sure there’s nothing to be concerned about and it’s better to be safe than sorry. I’ll be checking out those vets when they open tomorrow, thank you!

Hey, any updates/progress on Minato?

Hi! Sadly no, his hair is still balding and picking at it. I’m trying to save up because everywhere I call they charge up to $200 just for an appointment.
