How long do you guys usually bake wood? Also, at what temperature? The pear wood that I cut today is about the thickness of a pencil to about a half inch. I have boiled it already, but I have no idea on everything else. Thanks!

I have connections! :D Bobbi (Rescue Mama on here) made the mistake of mentioning she had two pear trees. I went out there the same day. Haha. She also gave me fresh, homegrown ruby red grapefruits that she knocked off the tree while I was there. She has all the good stuff!

I bake wood at 250. I would bake wood that thick for a couple of hours and then check it for dryness. You should be able to snap it pretty easily if it is dry. Also, when you tap on it it should sound like you are tapping your nails (best analogy I can come up with). When it isn't dry you can't really hear a distinct tap. If you don't seal it up, even if it's not quite dry it should be fine.

Thank you! I actually popped it in there earlier at 250 because it just sounded good. :p Now I know I'm not going to screw it all up.

Hmm...methinks I need to get to know Bobbi Jo! Doug does have a landscaping/tree trimming business....lol

Tell him to make it a point to "trim" the good trees. Give him the safe wood list to carry at all times. Haha.

LOL the wood from the pear trees is about all I get!!!!
I told Crysta we've been at this house for 17+ years and have yet to get a pear! The squirrels get them before I do! :hair:

The grapefruit I guess is ready and I don't eat it so Sugarmomma come get some.
I live in Switzerland between you and Crysta it's about 25 minutes from St Aug, Jax & OP.
I'm looking for apple wood and can't find any locally.

Hmmm I have some yard work I need done we might be able to work something out.... :)

You'll need a tree trimmer to get the rest of the grapefruit down.
Unless you can climb like a spider monley? :) LOL
