Back to the vet we go in an hour...Lexie is constipated still...this has been going on since last Thursday after we fed her freeze dried crickets. She had her first vet visit last Saturday, and at that point she had only been constipated for 2 nights and was passing stool, but it was hard and small. The vet checked her out and said she looked great, so just give her warm baths, watch her food and water intake and she will check in with us later on in the week. She said that as long as Lex was eating and drinking normally, just keep up with warm baths and pumpkin to help. Then on Tuesday she pooped in the bath a couple of times and proceeded to play like she hadn't played in a couple days (obviously felt so good) she ate and drank a ton. We thought we had resolution but then on Friday morning I noticed again she wasn't pooping...not even little hard poops. We tried some pumpkin and a bath and it didn't seem to work. When I woke up this morning she had consumed 2 kibbles and maybe 1 oz of water......so I booked her in for 1:30 today to see the vet, because this is starting to scare me. She is playful and running around - but the fact that she is still constipated and didn't drink last night has me pretty alarmed.

So off we go to the vet! Let's hope all goes well...

Well, its not good. They said Lexie looks good, so they don't know why she isn't eating or drinking or pooping. They wanted to hospitalize her but because of her stress levels, the vet recommended we take her home and nurse her here first to see if we make any progress. If we don't, then we bring her in for a hospital stay.

So now I am home, quite scared, with a little hedgehog who needs to be syringe fed with a powder mix for the next few days and given lactulose to help poop and take care of any potential liver problems. We know how to unroll her and force feed, but I am really hoping we don't have to. She gave us a bunch of tips to make her food more appealing (baby foods and wet cat foods) so I'm praying that works. She said at this point she doesn't care what Lexie consumes as long as she's eating something.

We could use your good thoughts and any tips if anyone has been through this....

Thank you!

Aw. Poor baby! I'm sorry. We've been fortunate enough here that a little butternut squash has always helped with things. I hope that your little girl comes through a-okay. Best of luck with the syringe feeding.
