So I live in NJ and the weather is spiraling out of control for March, as many of you are probably aware. I was not anticipating 80F days in MARCH! But with this obviously impending summer of doom coming along, I feel I should reach out to everyone here and ask about what type of window unit air conditioners you use.

I am going to go as soon as I get suggestions to Walmart/Best Buy/etc to pick up one immediately -- I can't be sure when the heat will spike like crazy.

So my issue is that Gizmo's located in an apartment that can't have a crazy, power hungry A/C running. It's an older apartment building so if too many electrical things are running, the circuits will short out. So I was wondering if anyone has a good brand of window unit A/C that doesn't pull too much power so no brown outs happen!

Thanks for any advice.

I was also scrambling around for the 80 degree forecast we had last Thursday. I ended up going with this Kenmore AC based on the positive reviews, low cost and energy efficiency.

I ordered it from Sears.com and picked up a local store a few days later.

It is rated for a 10x10 room. My room is about 12x10 and it works good. It also has an energy saver feature which allows you to turn the unit on and set the temperature. When the room reaches that temp, the unit turns off completely and only comes on if the temp rises above the set temperature. Its a good feature for days when it gets cooler at night. I expect it will be running full on in the summer though.

I only used it for 2 days because we're back the 50s-60s again, so cant say first hand how the electric bill is.

If your room is bigger they make 2 larger sized units.

Wow $150 is a great deal and I see it apparently exceeds the Energy Star rating. It's also rated a Best Buy. Thank you SO much for a quick response. Definitely started to panic, but apparently for no reason because today was actually chilly. I can't take this weather!
