My bf and I ordered this, but haven't started it yet. It is a program meant for people who are already in shape to get into better shape, actually. It says you should be able to pass their included fitness test before you start (which is part of why we haven't started yet... gotta get ready for it... well, that and we still have to set up a space to do it *rolls eyes*).

Hey... I'm taking suggestions on how to find them!

Apparently my fat likes me! I am active, I do tons of daily chores that require lifting, carrying, shoveling, etc, so I need something that is different and really pushes me to lose weight. Just the gym thing was going okay until my knee busted last year. I did go today though! I love the procore machine... if i could put it in my pocket I'd bring it home with me...

I have some friends who did the program, him with great results and her not-so-much. He was in good shape already and she was not. They were very dedicated to the program and stuck with it completely. His transformation was amazing. He actually did the 90 days, took two weeks off and then did another 90 days.

He is doing Crossfit now and says he likes it a lot better.

Riven it's the diet.... Most people don't make it far enough in their workouts to plateau.

And everybody is affected by the weight gain, I can see it everywhere I go. I gained 30 lbs the first month I came back from overseas. It was from overindulgence in food I had no access too. This is not a workout for those overweight by 30+ LBS... But, they can make it by calorie counting, heart rate monitors, and 30 + minutes of different exercise a day. It is obtainable!

The reason the "Biggest Loser" is so successful(and by successful I mean the number of people that have lost weight and kept it off), is because they teach/force people to count calories, and eat the right foods. Exercise is only 25% of the equation after 30+ LBS, and that is a very arguable debate to anyone in the Physiology field.
Now if you will excuse me I have to go apologize to some poor girl I ripped on this morning. The admins are circling the boat :eek:ops2::help::ban:

none of my business, but TheNobleFight what were you in special forces. Just wondering. It looks interesting to me.

I am not really sure what you are asking... My rank, my job, my actual training.
I will put it this way... What I did and for whom, is still a matter of national security, and for the most part is not public crowd appropriate. I can answer some questions but others I cannot. If you PM me I will answer what I can.

Like are/were you a Navy SEAL or MARSOC or Army Ranger. I'm not asking about top secret information that yo have to keep secret, but maybe even your job in special forces is a secret.

stacie--you sure you want to try to do "vegan" & P90X?? I think with that work out you are going to need some meat!!

I'm only doing the vegetarian thing for a week as a bet/just to get the gist of it. I get to eat meat again on Sunday..we're starting P90X on Monday. ;)

Thats funny you should mention MARSOC. At first I thought you were joking, I had to look it up. See I got out in 2005 and at that time there was little to no Marine Corp presence in SOCOM. To be honest... Aside from Recon teams, they just were not taken seriously at SOCOM. Obviously they have changed that, probably because group is overloaded with missions right now. Until Iraq, SEALS were not doing deep land based missions.
To answer your Question: I was originally attached to US Army Special Operations Command. I took a special assignment with Department of Defense and wound up at JSOC. A group that was founded after the botched rescue attempt of hostages in Iran around 1980-81. I worked with all branches of the military, and several different factions such as SEALS, SF Groups, Delta, 75th Rangers, Airforce ParaRescue, and intel agencys like NSA, and CIA.
My job was ground mobility, and there is not much more I can elaborate on that. Like most Warrant Officers I am specialized to a particular job.
It is not glamorous or exciting as movies make it out to be... In fact we do a lot of sitting around getting ready to get ready. If you love to travel to inhospitable places and meet despicable excuses for human beings, this is the job for you. I will admit though, life on the group side is much easier than big Army. We did get lots of perks(no shaving) and if you love exotic hardware and toys, we are second only to NASA. But it does not make up for all the physical and emotional problems later on. Most of us have failed marriages, or relationships, addictions to alcohol and painkillers, and physical injurys and problems that we deal with for life. It is an honorable job, and there is lots of camaraderie and heritage while inside.
We dont get missions that make the newspapers and win us medals unless we die and ultimately fail trying to save our best friends. More often than not we get last resorts to complicated situations. You must only have x amount of people... You must fly in this helicopter and walk the other 15 miles in... You will be outnumbered 10 to 1, and your only force multiplier is as much ammo as you can carry. But that wont matter because we need you to haul this extra 60Lbs of shiny expensive widgets and make sure it comes back with you... And if its cloudy we cant see you so dont walk into any laser guided bombs we will be dropping... And oh by the way, if it's too hot for helos in the LZ you will have to find your own ride back 150 miles. LOL
Let me know if there is anything else you want to know, but lets do it in PM's cause i think the girls just fell asleep.:tired:

The testosterone helps in understanding all that, I think. My thoughts are, "Why would anyone want to do that? No one could pay me to do that!" It's all totally a man thing, I believe. Not that there is anything at all wrong with that! :p

Noble - so you came back from the desert and moved to. . . wait for it. . . the desert? What were you thinking man?

Sorry - I had to. I was stationed at Luke AFB for five years, and it about killed me! I'm from the east coast, where there's water everywhere and the dirt stays on the ground! When I joined I wanted to go to Europe, and they told me my first duty station was Phoenix, AZ. I swear I didn't even know where it was at the time, but I remember distinctly asking, "Isn't that, like, in the desert or something?"

Yes, Monika, it is.

Yeah, but if you have lived here your whole entire life, everywhere else with trees and water seems strange. :) Not that I really like Phoenix all that much...that's where I grew up, it was different back then...that last 10 or 15 years it has grown out of control with lots of impatient people. :D

Now I live at a higher elevation without the intense heat but also without snow and really cold temps. YAY!
