Is anyone familiar with this product. I know it is plastic but I would cover it totally with fleece. My chins will not go in a hammock, I don't think they like it because the bottom is not firm. I want to put some more playthings in their cage.

I hadn't been on the APD site in a while, they have expanded their treat line quite a bit. The Critter Pod (if that is the item that you were asking about) would not be something I would personally put in a chinchilla cage since it is made of plastic and if you are going to cover it in fleece you may as well buy a fleece designed house to start with (you could get something custom made to put in the bottom to firm it up) :)). Several people make them on this forum.

I have seen someone cut the pvc tubes in half and then cover them in fleece, so they still attach to the wall of your cave but it is only like a half tube and kind of resembles a hammock. That could be something your chins might like :))

Igloos are cheaper and bigger. I would imagine they are easier to cover too.

So it's the same thing only upside down? It's cute, but seems awfully spendy for what you get. If it was me, I would do what was suggested above and get the PVC pipe and cover it with fleece. You can use it pretty much forever and they aren't going to chew through it like they will thin plastic.
