Ok so Ive been trying to jog and stuff more often but I cant go for too long.. The bouncing from jogging is making my butt and gravity my enemies and its pulling away from my back and it hurts!

I know there are sports bras for the top half to keep them from bouncing but is there like a pair of shorts that will hold my booty in place while I run?

Ive tried spanx under my shorts and spandex and stuff like that and its not helping much.

Maybe you can so something that has less impact? I love the eliptic because there's no impact on my knees and less ****ies all over the place.

Well Im looking for something to do that I dont really have to go to a gym to work out.. I hate that.. I rather stay fat..

You can try using an exercise ball, not much jiggling going on there. I started using one last night, its not so bad. Try taking a class on how to use one at the local gym.

I have an exercise ball.. And Ive taken Aerobics classes and ball classes.. I want to run and continue my aerobics.. The ball is more for toning. I need to lose whats on top of the muscles that I need to tone.

I currently have my aerobics routine and I already use my large exercise ball and my bender ball. But I wanted to run with Lola..But my butt needs to stay in place!

My husband found my elliptical on sale for under $200 ..and I love it! I can jump on any time of day and "run" my little heart out ..while watching something on the pooter ..or just watching my silly Zoo kids, be silly.

I still go bike riding and rollerblading, too.. which are both aerobic ..and no gravity tugging and pulling with those events.

Otherwise.. controlling moveable parts will require tight fitting clothing ..sports bras ..and maybe a girdle, for more rigid support?? I dunno.. tight fitting anything is not my friend, as it leads to other issues in various areas.. :err:

Do girdles hold in your butt? Thats my only issue..

I've only ever seen my Momma wear a girdle for medical/post surgical reasons and it looked terribly restricting in the general area that it covers ..so I am guessing it will definitely hold in your gluteus maximus ;)

Well, one thing that my personal trainer told me, was that you do not necessarily *have* to run. Most people think, "I need to run my heart out to lose weight". But really, its about your heartrate, and making sure you are in the right range for your height, age and weight. There are charts online that you can look up, and see what your heartbeat should be. If you are below the "weight loss" range, then obviously....workout harder to raise your heartbeat. If you above, that is BAD!! When you exceed the heartbeat range for your personal body, you are doing reverse progress, or nothing at (except breaking down muscle). I was running, and going strong on the precor machine (similar to the eliptical but without the arm things) and my heartbeat was ~160. I talked with my personal trainer, and had a few sessions of one-on-one and my heartbeat should be betwen 136-146 for weight loss. And I actually started to lose the weight, and see definition in my arms, butt, thights, stomach....

Get a heartbeat monitor or a stop watch and workout that way. I can easily reach the lower end of my heartbeat range on flat ground doing speed walking. To get to the higher end, or exceed (which is... BAD!) I speed walk on a large incline (up walk up hill if you don't want to go to the gym).

Its amazing the results you see when you start working out correctly. I was doing it incorrectly for YEARS, and saw zero results. Zero, zip, nada! And just after a few months with knowing how to do it correctly, I dropped weight, gained muscle, and got definition. Also, watch those sport drinks. Drop them altogether and just drink water when you work out.

Oh yeah, and it would be in your best interest to start doing weight training too. That is what made me lose the weight the fastest. Weight training (and no, you don't have to sit there and pump iron all day) raises your metabolism for ~48 hours, while cardio only raises it for ~12 hours. BIG difference. PM if you want any more info. lol I talked a lot with personal trainers, and nutritionists. :)

ETA: The whole point of my post was to say that you don't need to run. lol Just get your heartrate in the correct range, and add some weight training (pilates, squats, sit ups, light weights 10-15lbs for arm repitions, etc.).

Are you talking about the ones for like plastic surgery? Or something like that? Like a body suit type thing?

I WANT to run. I feel good after a job with Lola.. I just need something to hol dmy butt in place.. LOL

I get it when I dance too.. I used to be on the schools Spirit Squad and it just doesnt stay still.. So im looking for something fo more than JUST running/jogging.

Maybe you want to focus on doing a lot of glute work before you start running? If you firm it up some, maybe then spandex will be enough. I've just started doing some of the Jillian Michaels videos on Netflix, and some of them are fabulous glute workouts.

I can walk for miles, but I am not an endurance runner. Walking at a very fast pace is very beneficial and less harmful to your joints. Especially if you have hand weights and ankle weights. I also have a treadmill, which in general, absorbs shock and is better for you that walking or running on the hard ground. Also good for butt exercise is going up and down stairs or hills.

I have never looked into it, but I do believe they have supportive underwear...

Must agree.
Also, the worst thing you can do is run on the beach. Lots of people think that running in the sand is really good for you since you work harder to maintain balance. Just the opposite, its killer on your joints. (Just FYI)

I have back problems, jogging isn't an option for me at all. I also have problems with my knees from collapsing during a seizure on tile floor.

I was recommended on going to physical therapy at a hospital my cousin works at, great thing is she's a physical therapist. Since I love water and it fit, they let me use the pool and just made me do these certain excercises. I've heard of pools that you can buy where you can jog and stuff in there, I'm sure that'd help with the 'booty' issue =P

Find a heart rate calculator. Usually the more info you need to put in the better, and you can find your ideal HR, you should find one that you need to enter your weight, age, and resting HR.

I don't process oxygen well if my HR gets to high ( anaerobic ) and I run the risk of basically passing out or going into an asthma type attack ( not the same, but where I can't get air into my blood even though I'm breathing it in.). I have a HR monitor to keep track! It's awesome! I think mine even tells you how many calories you burn, but I just use it for the HR. It's by Arctic. Also have you considered roller blading? Less jiggly!

If you're running to lose weight, I suggest getting one. If not, don't worry about it. As for your jiggly buns... have you tried something like a body slimmer? It would help to hold "everything" in, and they tend to be more firm and supportive than spandex alone.

I not really running to lose weight or anything like that.. if I do great but not the reason. I life the feeling I get from jogging and I spend more time with my dog.. And I dont do well on bikes with Lola so I figured I can run with her so she can expell her energy.

Ive tried something similar to those.. Maybe Ill look into getting the ones with the straps or something.. Thanks for the link!

Ive even thought about something like a diving suit or something because nothing holds that darn thing in place!

And not really looking to "firm" it.. I like when it jiggles :winkers:.. just not when I jog.. LOL

If you're trying to work out the dog and your self at the same time, what about roller blades? Still getting the cardio (keeping up with her), still getting the dog out and about, but less impact on the knees/ankles and less chance of a booty bounce making you bleed. It might be a better workout for Lola if you let her tug you a little on the straight stretches, too.

If running is still the way to go, I wonder if a theatre supply or dance shop near you would have body tape. You could sort of tape your jiggle up/down as needed without affecting the range of motion you'd need to run.

This is what I was thinking. We used use vet wrap and duct tape when we'd get rough horses at the shows. Tape is very, very useful - though sweaty.

My housemate got a pair of cycling pants to jog in, they keep her thighs from chaffing and they seem to hold everything in.
