I just purchased some acidolphilis tablets for my soon to be 2 rescues as I will be doing a pellet switch. I found raspberry flavor with no milk products. Is this safe for chinchillas and how much would I give them?

Also should my other chin be fed this on a regular basis? Her poops are fine and her digestion is fine too.

And one more question: should chins be getting vitamin c regularly. My rescues are fed a c tablet as a treat.

I don't know about the acidolphilis. I do give my chin Vit c and it is not for a treat (thoough they think it is). I firmly believe it helps with the teeth and gums. I know a lot of people here do not agree. I have been given the vit c (human chewable) for over 12 years

I wouldn't use the flavored stuff. It's better to get the capsules that you can pull apart and sprinkle on the pellets. The flavored and sweetened acidophilus isn't necessary - and, the organism count isn't very high...so if you only get the chin to eat a few bites it won't do as much. The higher organism count that is in the capsules means that you can mix it in with dry pellets and the chins will be getting a little extra dose of acidophilus with every single bite of pellet. :)

As for the chewable vitamin C tablets.... I think that it can be a great supplement for chins. Vitamin C is a powerful antioxidant and can help to strengthen a chin's immune system. And, like Barb said, I really believe that it can help maintain good dental health.

hehehe You can give them the vitamin C in place of their daily treat! They don't know that you're giving them a vitamin...

Do you guys give a whole vitamin 'C' tablet per chin per day?

Well I'm glad I asked. Always good to get the correct measurement down, lol.
