Hi! I had a slightly scary situation today (at least I'm scared!). I recently moved back home, and took my chinchilla (a four year old female) out to play in a bathroom for the first time. Everything was fine, then later I went into the bathroom and noticed a large copper colored puddle behind the toilet. I cleaned it it up, and smelled it (to see if it smelled like chin urine). To me it did smell slightly like pee, but I guess I don't really know what chin urine normally smells like since it is always on wood shavings. The urine was brown/copper colored and makes me very worried. It was a very large puddle, much larger than any normal urine spot I see in her cage, which makes me think it might not be from my chinchilla. I just wanted anyone's opinion of what it could be/if I should be worried. I also checked her cage and did not see any unusually large/discolored urines spots. Thanks!
