Okay, so, this isn't an emergency because I don't know if he got into it or not. I let my chin Furby run around the bathroom. So I took him in there and was sitting on the floor with him while he ran around. And he usually hops like crazy around it, we have no cords or anything he can get stuck in in there, so that's where I usually take him, after I make sure everything is dry.

Well, he was behind the toilet for a while so I peeked around and I guess my housemate put down a Grants Kills Ants poison trap that Furby was sniffing! I don't know if he licked it, I swooped him up as quickly as I could and put him in his pen instead and watched him. I'm watching him in his cage now too. He seems okay but I am worried. What should I be looking for?

Not really sure. Ant poison and dogs usually results in an upset stomach if the dog merely licks the ant poison. As chins are much smaller than dogs I don't know the exact effects in chins. To be on the safe side you should call your vet when they open, explain the situation and see if they can be of help. I'm sure you can contact poison control, but I'm also sure there is a fee especially for a pet.

You're talking about an ant trap though right? One of those enclosed things? Unless he got his tongue in there, I'd bet he won't have any ill effects from it. If anything, I would call poison control, let them know what the product is, and what the exposure was. They can tell you what to do.

Here's the link for the California poison control centers. Hopefully this is a direct link: http://www.aapcc.org/dnn/About/FindLocalPoisonCenters/tabid/130/Default.aspx

The person I talked to on the non-emergency line from the bay area said that if an animal his size even licked the tiniest bit of ant poison he would slow and die very quickly, within a couple of days, but I would start seeing signs almost immediately, like loss of appetite, disorientation, balance issues, etc... It seems he didn't considering he's eating and hopping around as usual. I will keep an eye on him anyway.
