    left eye swollen, sneezing

Sorry it took so long to reply, I got pretty busy. Oscar ended up getting better before I was able to bring him to the vet. I'm guessing he's maybe just allergic to whatever kind of tea it was. He's back to his normal grouchy self!

    left eye swollen, sneezing

It may not even be sneezes. It's more like a noise he's making with his voice. Like a rough squeak when he's rubbing his nose against the bars or shelves.

    left eye swollen, sneezing

No, they don't look runny at all. Just the skin around his eye is swollen.

    left eye swollen, sneezing

Oscar has just started making weird little squeaky sneezing noises and his left eye is slightly swollen. He's also rubbing his face against the bars when he makes the noises. He got into some tea bags that were left on the top of the cage. Are chins allergic to tea? Just curious what this...

Advice on giving medication? Getting bitten

Thanks for the replies. Last night we did give him the syringes without holding him, but I did have to pick him up to do the cream on his feet. I was using a shirt to hold him with and there was an exposed part of my finger he got a hold of and really went in deep. I think I may get some thin...

Advice on giving medication? Getting bitten

Thanks, I'll try burrito method this time. I'm not too sure exactly how much he eats since he has a cagemate and I just have pellets in there all the time. It's Mazuri brand, but I do notice Oscar eats more than Charlie. It might just be because he's twice as big as Charlie. He weighs 640g...

Advice on giving medication? Getting bitten

Hey guys. One of my chinchillas has bumblefoot. We got some medication from the vet. 2 syringes: one for pain, one for antibiotics. And some topical cream to put on his feet. I held Oscar while my husband administered the stuff. Unfortunately Oscar has always been one to bite pretty hard all...

    Cuddles!

Yeah, they do look super comfortable. If I could use a chinchilla as a pillow I would.

    Cuddles!

I haven't been visiting the forums often due to work but I just had to share this picture. Charlie and Oscar are getting along wonderfully.

    Finally did a fleece liner

Thanks! I just got a second job so my husband and I are going to start ordering more toys soon. They already have two but they definitely need more since the current ones are all chewed up. It's just a slow process because if I get everything at once it will seem like we're spending too much money.

    Finally did a fleece liner

I hope they learn to use the litter pans. This is going to be way easier in the long run. Plus the metal grate was getting loud when they jumped down onto it. What do you think?

    Charlie... AND Oscar!

Thanks, guys. I sit and stare at them until they get creeped out when they're cuddling.

    Charlie... AND Oscar!

Oscar's all better and we were finally able to introduce him to Charlie! Charlie's apparently a horny little thing so after much humping he calmed down and now they're friends. Have some pictures!

Spot found a new place to nap

I've never "gone on and on about how much I know about chinchillas". I'm pretty sure no matter how much anyone knows they're always learning so I wouldn't even claim to be an expert, I'm not even close and I've never tried to imply that. It's gone from from giving advice to attacking my...

Spot found a new place to nap

she's been sleeping up there for a couple hours now and as soon as she's done she'll jump down and go do her cat thing. She really has no interest in Charlie. My dog having a collar on could possibly maybe have a tiny chance of having an accident involving the collar. Something can go wrong...

Spot found a new place to nap

All my pets are always in the same room as me as I go about my day. I appreciate your concern but I know my animals, and I know Spot just wants to lay there. If I hear anything going on or her moving weird on the cage, she's just a few feet away from where I am.

Spot found a new place to nap

Spot, our cat, absolutely LOVES fleece. I didn't even think about this as a possibility when I started using a blanket to make Charlie feel safe until I get a tube for him to sleep in. She doesn't even care about Charlie at all. She just wants some warm fleece to lay on.

    Our New Boys

They're really cute, and I love the names. Howl's Moving Castle and Spirited Away are in my top 10 favorite movies.
