Great! 2nd is very good. Good job Briar Rose! I had heard he wasn't going to host a show in October :(, I was bummed out when I first heard that as I usually can make it to the October show.

Oh and ouch! Her poor little foot! I've had one rip his nail out and like you I tried to not cause him any stress that may open that wound, they certainly can bleed!

Have fun! I know several people who are going, a couple are from a goodly distance (1 from Virginia). They are all friendly, don't be shy :)

If you still have time, I say go anyway. The opportunity to meet others, discuss hedgehogs, and see how a show works is a great way to spend a Saturday. I've gone to plenty with no intention to show mine.

Going to get our little girl on Sat. Just bought the FERRET NATION!!

There is plenty of floor space without the shelf, it is a very nice cage. There are a number of us who use them and yes they are expensive, but they are so easy to clean, and provide a nice amount of space. Plus they are easy to move around, just make sure the casters are unlocked before moving.

Going to get our little girl on Sat. Just bought the FERRET NATION!!

I have the old style, but I cannot imagine ever needing to zip tie these cages. There are plenty of chin people using the 180 series already and a chin is going to be far more bouncy than a hedgehog. Are you planning to only use one level or are you going to try to add the shelf? I don't...

    Fleece liners...question

If you are sewing liners, you can make the outside layer from other fabric too. Fleece is only really important if you are not going to sew. I use corduroy or flannel and sometimes I make them so that one side is corduroy and the other is flannel with a layer of fleece smashed between them...

    Sewing party and cuddlebugs

Looking good. I love the monkey fabric. I am always browsing fabric websites now, looking for good deals to sew things for the quilled ones. There is something about sewing things for them that just feels good.

    Aargh!!

Don't be upset! I have two that run non-stop! They start up at 11pm and don't stop until 6am. 14.5 miles was a large amount, they average about 7 miles a night running for that amount of time. Their extreme running makes it hard to keep weight on them. Tylda, my 10 month old, runs between...

    Curious about pedigrees

Dunno if it was mentioned yet or not, but the other piece of this is an animal may appear healthy today and later in life may have a genetic disorder start to become symptomatic. There are no genetic tests that a veterinarian can perform that will tell you if this is hiding in a young...

Contact Deb, her email should be on the website. I don't think she will stop you from participating without an IHR number. I'd suggest registering your little one then you can tell her the # is pending. Registration is free.

    Weights

Good luck! I cannot wait to see what you come up with and how far your little ones run.

    Aargh!!

If your room is 25C that is about 77 F, more than warm enough. You shouldn't need a CHE on while at that temp.

    Weights

Sad news on the odometers! My smallest has been 295, my largest 850. I once calculated the average of 12 hedgehogs I have had and it was about 600g. But I have had larger than "average" hedgehogs over the years, if I recaculated with the last 12 it would be much lower due to the two 330 g...

    Food help!

Don't worry about different sizes. Tylda is 660 gram, and my other two about half her size at around 330g each. Tylda makes Tula look like a baby, yet Tula is 2.5 years old. My biggest hedgehog was 850 grams. They really do come in a wide range of sizes! Its more important to know what is...

    Food help!

Depends on the hedgehog, but some things to look for... Fatty deposits showing up under their legs, fat building up on their shoulders (they get a bit of a hump when they are obese), ability to curl up fully. When they stand up and you look at them head on, can you see their legs, or is there...

    Young Hedgie Humping?

The one I posted is with a wire. The wireless versions are a wee bit more expensive.

    Food help!

I vaguely remember talking about the baby cat and moistening, too many people, too many hedgies to keep track of! The old mind doesn’t keep up sometimes. Before doing too much more with food, let’s see if he is growing or not. How old is he right now? I forget (see old mind ;) ). I weigh...
