    Ball

Do a thread search for "death ball." I would never put my chin in one.

    2014 California ECBC State Show

Please see the attached link for the CA group's website. You can view the banquet menu (buffet style), hotel reservations, as well as pay for your meal, trophy donations, etc. via the website. There's a lot of info here, so hopefully it will answer some of your questions. Thanks again for...

Help, what's going on with his ear?

Bruise, maybe? I've never seen one on a chin of course, so maybe that's a bit ridiculous?

Random question about show quality chinchillas

Show quality chins are judged on their fur quality, color, brightness, density, overall conformation of the chinchilla, size, etc. Its hard to take photos of these qualities, but ones that are more obvious in a photo would be a chin that has narrow shoulders, for example. They look "wedgy,"...

    Biting?

Yep, light nibbling is a good thing! If they grab a hold of you with more pressure, then that's more of a warning. Obviously if they break skin, then that's no good.

Replacement pans for Ferret Nation cage

Check out Bass Equipment and look for ferret pans. They aren't cheap, but you won't need to replace them ever again. They're the best pans in my opinion for FNs.

    Alfalfa hay

You're going to get varied opinions on this. I don't think its bad and some ranchers feed alfalfa primarily. I personally feed Timothy year round and nursing mothers/chins needing to gain weight get some alfalfa in addition to Timothy.

    Barking? Why?

He's barking because the dog is there. You might want to move your chin to be on the safe side. Even there's no direct contact between them doesn't mean your chin won't get stressed out.

Is my kit too small for a Ferret Nation (bar spacing)

He might be...have you weighed him or have a picture for size comparison?

    Secret Santa this year?

No one is organizing it this year, so no Secret Santa. :(

    Do rose hips go bad?

You can find them at Whole Foods, or other health stores like that or like Ashley said, online. A lot of our vendors have them I'm sure.

    Treats

Stay away from dried fruit/vegetables. Rose hips can be purchased from health food stores or herbal supply companies online. I give rose hips, plain shredded wheat, apple/pear sticks, and herbs from Fuzzies Kingdom as treats to my chins. As for wheels, check out the Silver Surfer and Chin...

    Setting up for a Chin

Fleece doesn't fray like normal fabric, which is one of the reasons its safe to use for them, so you don't have to worry about it falling apart in the wash. Depending on the mess, you can usually change them weekly. You'll have to gauge it based on how much of a mess your chin makes.
