I had a chin with a double fractured pelvis - very small, fragile chin, got caught in between a cage door and a shelf when the door was shut on her :cry3: - and she was treated with metacam, gas drops and a very small cage for 6 weeks. I still have her, she's feisty as they come and gets around...

Yes definitely be sure her hind legs are functional - if she has a fractured pelvis it can heal and she'll be able to walk again (I've had one fracture her's in two places) but I'd really worry about nerve damage. Good thoughts coming your way.

I feed mostly cubed and give loose to everyone once or twice a week, and to moms/babies more often. I buy my hay from a local farmer by the bale.

I would gladly give a donation to a rescue in the event that they had my chinchilla and contacted me - I just wouldn't pay a pet owner to take it back.

I will not pay to take back one of my animals, and my contract states such. I haven't had any issues to date though.

I recommended to Jen that she may want to have Nugget seen to be certain she does not need a round of antibiotics. I have never seen anything like this myself but my first concern would be pyo for sure. Poor Nugget!
