I know people who have tried Mazuri and their hedgehogs won't touch it. Calcium powder is not necessary and too much calcium can cause kidney and bladder stones.

It should be okay as long as you can keep hedgie warm enough without roasting the rats. The activity level of the rats during the day might stress your hedgie though.
