    What's new?

Hi all. It’s been a long time since posted but I’ve come back and looked things up! I still have my two, Bella is @16 now and has been having teeth issues for the last several years, I had to feed her critical care for almost two years before she started eating on her own again. She has...

That's all I needed to hear. Vet called, meds refilled.

Still not eating Timothy on her own, I have to pick just the right piece of hay to get her to eat. Eating pellets, eating leafy part of alfalfa, wolfing down cc. I've just finished the tramadol I had for her, and am going to start weaning off of the Metacam. Still not much interest in...

    Acting the same after surgery

Did the vet send you home with pain meds? Is he pooping and eating at all? After serious internal surgery I wouldn't want to move around much either. I would consult your vet about his progress or lack thereof. I'm sure someone with more experience on this will give you better direction.

New owner a little worried help

The picture is too dark for me to see anything, though I'm on my phone. Is it just the one eye? Is there a lot of wetness around the eye as well? It could be as simple as she got something in her eye that's irritating, or it could be upper respiratory or any number of things. Make sure...

We're up 25g and she ate a piece of hay! I had to hand it to her, but she took it! Now if only she'd go to the hay on her own. There's evidence of pellet eating too. I'm so relieved, this is so stressful. Still crossing fingers! Thanks Josh- I hope you are able to get your chinnies...

Update: 4 days later and she ate some alfalfa leaves on her own, though still won't eat other hays and not eating pellets. She is back to grooming the back of my hands (ouch!) which I did miss. Eyes still water a little bit. I'm encouraged by those two changes. Keeping fingers crossed.

    snuggle Buddies.

I think they're nice to have, even if your chin doesn't always pay attention to it. My younger one will toss it out of her hanging house and jump on it like wrestlemania. I've seen her swing it around by the tail too. My older one is only now cuddling with hers because she...

I'll have to measure to see how much she's actually eating. I just mix it up in a small bowl, about 1/2" deep in the bottom. She eats a good deal, and I try to do 4 feedings a day. Luckily I live close to work so I can come home at lunch. I got some apple banana flavor while at this vet...

Ok, latest update: He found some spurs close to the gum line and at the far back of her mouth, mostly on her left side which is where she has been drooling from the most. Took new xrays, he said he didn't see any elongation to worry about and didn't see anything else of concern. He did say her...

I have continued her on the .25 Metacam originally prescribed after the first filing. She seems to want to eat and is frustrated, as she flung her pellets everywhere yesterday morning. I will pass your thoughts on at my appointment today. Thanks Dawn, that gives me some hope that I'm not...

Ok, here you go :broken: I have a few more but photobucket is giving me trouble.

That's what I'm afraid of. Then my only option is to put her down, right? This sucks. A lot. I have her X-rays, if anyone can look and tell me. They're from beginning of November.

Ok, update to my last update. I have an appointment with Stahl Exotics tomorrow at 2 p.m. I hope they can help.

19 days post filing and she is only getting worse. Still not eating hay, won't even look at it. Drooling a lot, mostly out of left side of mouth, eyes still watery and some discharge - could there be an eye infection now? I'm just back from the dental place, and after his exam he said he got...

Update: it's a week since last posted, and 10 days since her filing. She's eating cc willingly and some pellets. Won't touch hay, and eyes are still watering some.

Whew! I am somewhat relieved to read that! How worried do I need to be about the bupenorphine and her not wanting to eat much? She eats the cc off a spoon, I don't need to force her, but since this procedure she is avoiding food more than not. Poops have slowed, not stopped, and she is on...

Hi Dawn, Bella has always been a hay girl, but since this started she has only been able to eat some pellets, leaving dust behind, and the leafy part of alfalfa hay outside of the cc. This is the first time I've ever had teeth issues with her. My other chin, Kiwi, is a pellet hog. She eats...
