How often should you take a chin to get a routine check-up. I just read a short article stating a chin should be taken to the vet once a year. How many of you do this?
My chinchilla knows the word NO. When I open his cage he jumps up on the frame and then tries to jump out. I say "No" firmly and he turns around. My chins know a few words and phrases. But they respond better to sounds. When I want them to come to me I tap the floor in front of me. I have...
Hi, I received a Spring Medley Mix hay sample from Farmer Dave's and it contains Orchard Grass, pre-headed Timothy, Meadow Grass, a little bit of Wild Barley Grass, and a touch of pre-bud Clover. I do not know the percentage of the barley or clover.
I have an eight year old who humps my arm. I just got him last November so I do not know how long he has been humping or if he ever humped his previous owner.
I just adopted an 6 year old chin, male. His poops are very tiny. I spoke to the woman I got him from and she told me his poops were always very small. Is this normal? Should I take him to the vet. He has never been to a vet so I do not want to stress him out anymore than he has been these last...
I noticed this while I was looking for an older chin to adopt. Too young for me but maybe someone would be able to take him in.

That might explain why it smells so sweet. They told me they just cut and dried it a little over a week ago. They grow it in their fields. The chins did eat some last night. I put it in their cage along with their other hay and they did eat some. I guess I can keep adding it along with the older...
Hi, I usually purchase my timothy hay online from Washington State but i was running low and my vendor was out of second cut until mid Sept. I bought a bale of second cut timothy locally in NJ. It smells much sweeter, almost like fennel but they assured me it was only timothy. Are there...
Is that the norm for healthy chins or does it depend on their breeding line? My vet told me 10-15 years. Also, this is going off subject but how much hay on average does a chin consume in a day. My chins do not seem to eat that much hay.
Has anyone had any luck with their hay this past season. I have ordered hay from many suppliers and it's been brown and full of weeds. This has been a bad hay season. Any suggestions on hay you have bought and the chins will eat would be appreciated. Thanks
