Great, keep us posted. If the Edstrom bottle isn't too old, it's probably just something stuck that needs to be cleaned when dismantled. If the o-ring is cracked or broken, then you obviously need to replace it. As a side note, do NOT oil anything in there. :-)

No, as I said, you need to turn and dismantle the nozzle. There are a few parts in there that could be clogged. My guess is maybe a bit of hay or something stuck on the o-ring. Or possibly the diaphragm. By dismantling it you can see if it's just dirty or if something needs to be replaced...

It's actually just taking a monkey wrench to the brass base and turning...thinking more about it....may just need to be cleaned....sometimes stuff gets stuck in there...

Most likely you need to dismantle it (not many know you can do this) and replace the o-ring. These are available at places that sell old Edstrom Water Buddies and parts. I know bunnyrabbit.com sells them if you google "Edstrom Water Buddy o-ring" they are $0.25. I would email them direct and ask...

You can just get powdered acidophilus from the drug store and sprinkly a tiny bit on his pellets a few times a week. GI health is crucial for chins.

The raisin thing works well. If not, the glass tube type I think is the easiest to drink out as they can actually see and directly lick the water but I personally find the tubes drip so I try to only offer them if I think a chin isn't drinking.

Whenever I am sick regardless of how it is spread I wear nitrile or latex gloves and a dust mask. I'm not sure I would be so quick to call it giardia as there are many intestinal parasites that have similar symptoms. Definitely continue washing with warm water and soap for a good length of time.
