    Apple wood sticks

Thanks for all the replies. Now I feel assured. Just weighed him and he's 402grams at slightly more than 4 months old. Is that overweight or fine?

    Apple wood sticks

I provide apple sticks for my chin as a chew toy. He seems to eat some parts of it. (Both the exterior of the stickand the stick itself) Is that okay?

    Bamboo leaves?

What do you want to do with the leaves? You want to use it as food?

    Caught some strange behavior?

Is she eating, pooping, urinating and drinking properly? If nothing has changed except this new behaviour, she probably just found her comfortable spot and is lazing there. I bought my chin a cooling plate as well but she didn't like it at all. I guess it's just a chin-by-chin basis whether or...

    Head Shaking?

Hi Valkyrie, I'll just reply here. Your posts will be up immediately after more post counts. So just interact more in the forum :) As for the info you've given me, he's 6 and you've had him for 3 weeks. Is him comfortable with you already or still approaches you cautiously? If it's a small...

How long have you had your chin for?

    How many is too many?

I had the intention of getting my second chin as a companion for my first seeing that chins can live for ten or more years. So is it true that chins do not need companions and are relatively independent creatures?

    New cage setup assistance!

You could get fleece that is big enough to wrap around the wired bottom. Then just slide the fleece-wrapped wired bottom back onto the bottom. That's what I did for my own cage.

    severely lost chin

I think you could give your chin some space now and let him calm down after the entire incident. When he seems settled down again, then you could try and start bonding with him again.

    Drooling, now not eating.

Sorry for your lost, I recently lost a chin as well and she was barely two years old. Back to your concerns, how has his brother been acting ever since? Has he been eating less, behaving differently or is everything as per normal for him? Also, may I know how there could be cardboard stuck in...

    Suddenly going into wooden house?

Probably nothing to worry about as chinchillas are curious animals and love to explore anything new.

    Chinchilla smiling

Hi, so I've read from this thread that chinchillas can smile. Just curious as to how they will look like when they smile. So anyone with photos could you please post it up?

    Introducing my little girl!

I'm glad everything went well for Shadow! :) Can I ask how did you manage to have her sleep on you? I have never been able to do that.

    Chinchilla and his fleece girlfriend c;

It depends on the chin whether they will like/not like a cuddle buddy right?

    new chin baby

Be sure to separate the father from the kit and its mum so that the mum can recuperate. Weigh the kit and keep track of its weight to see if it's increasing for the next few weeks. If it isn't, it might not be feeding on the mum and you'll have to hand feed it.

New here - Question about chin foods

I use a mix of oxbow and mazuri. Pure mazuri makes my chin poop too soft for my liking. The current balance seems like the perfect mix for his diet. Following the recommendations from the earlier posts, you should also weigh the chin to see if there's an increase in weight as fur coat of the...

    Chinchilla Not Eating Pellets

First of all, I don't think you should be feeding him any raisins. Antibiotics have been known to cause some to lose their appetite. My local vet says to stop antibiotics medication if there's any signs of a lost in appetite. Since he's off medication, I'm sure he will get back his appetite...
