Hi, I ordered 10 lbs timothy third cut from an online hay company. They told me it is 2024 harvest but it smells musty not like fresh hay. Is this normal for a new harvest to smell like this? Thank you

No, hay should never smell musty at all, that is a sign it's gotten moldy, so it's not safe to feed to animals. It sounds like either it was old hay or if new then not properly cured/dried before baling or was not kept dry after baling. I'd ask for a refund and send it back.
On a side note, in case you don't know. unless your chin has dental or health issue third cut is really more a treat hay and not ideal for everyday hay unless you are mixing it with 1st and/or 2nd cut. Most chins do love it because it's tasty but it's the softest and lowest in fiber (so not as good as other cuts for tooth wear or digestion), as well as highest in fat and protein so it can be good for chins with mouth pain to encourage them to eat, or chins that need to put on some extra weight.
