Wood house

My grandpa is making my chin a wood house out of safe wood and pegging it together.

I was thinking of painting it to make it cuter- what type of paint could I use that if she chews/eats it, it would be safe/okay?

You can use food grade paints/dyes. Usually at craft stores they have a cake decorating section, and you should be able to find a set of colors there.

Definitely you could use human grade food coloring...that works very well. Also, in the past I have used poster paints for houses and toys and things. You want to look for paints and dyes that are non-toxic....those paints and dyes that are safe and acceptable for young children are definitely worth looking into for using with chins.
