ware plastic flying saucer

has anyone ever tried the plastic flying saucer http://www.petsmart.com/product/index.jsp?productId=3155602. I will replace it with the "real metal one" once i have the time to go down to portland. my chinchilla is not a big chewer and i've read that even when they do bite it, the hard plastic doesn't break. would it be okay if i left it with my chin permanantly in his cage?

Those flying saucers are worthless...they are not sturdy at all and can not with stand a chinchilla running on them, not to mention too small to give a chin any chance at running on it. You'd also be surprised...despite being hard plastic, a chinchilla can chew through them. I have seen chins leave chew marks on metal.

I'd just wait. Those plastic ones are definitely worthless. Your chin will be fine without a wheel in the meantime.
