My new chin Persephone came with Sunseed Sunnaturals Chinchilla Food, almost an entire bag of the stuff. It's mostly pellet based, but it also has hay mixed in...and dried raisins and papaya. I mixed it with Oxbow to start to switch her over, and am making sure to avoid feeding her the papaya and raisins, but I was wondering if it's worth doing a slow switch considering the low quality of food, or if it's a better idea just to switch her over to oxbow right away. What do you guys think?

cold switch her right away, and get her off the junk food. even with the fruit/treats taken out, it's still a very inferior quality feed.

Make sure she's eating plenty of hay. You can also sprinkle her pellets with acidophilus to help regulate the bacteria in her gut. She should be fine with a cold switch. With junk food like that it's the better option.
