Hi again,

Just a quick question for hedgie experts on quill loss. As many know and can see from the below post, my poor Thistle has been through a ton in the last few months. She is 3.5 years old...closer to 4.

I have noticed she is losing more quills than normal. Not enough that I notice it on her body, but just finding more in her cage. Could this just be due to the stress, medication, massive leg cancer for the past 4 months, amputation,?? She has no other signs of mites or anything. Again, all other eating, drinking, bathroom stuff is normal...

Thanks...I have my fingers crossed that it's a stress thing.

A very stressful event, and surgery is one of them, can cause a stress quill loss. Are you seeing any new quill growth? There should be lots of new quills poking through.

Bless you little Thistle - you have been through so much. And bless your Mom too for taking such good care of you'!!!
