Does anyone know much about the Lexington KY area? I recently took a job at the University hospital and was wondering about the area. Does anyone know of a chin friendly apartment complex? I have one pet chinchilla but everyone I have called does not allow chins. Any other info would be greatly appreciated. Thanks in advance!

I would make sure they know WHAT a chin is, that it's not a dog but a small animal that lives in a cage. I even had the lady at the USDA tell me how chinchillas were the cutest little dogs...

Yes, at our current apartment I had to explain they were a small caged animal...the manager thought I was talking about 8 chinchilla "cats"...

Lexington is an all right place, pretty good food. Can't beat Louisville, though, my hometown! :D
My apartment also said anything that is small and lives in a cage is fine. I would clarify for them.

I live about 3 hours from there, but I've never lived there. I had a friend who lived there, I'll find out what apartment complex she was in for you

EDIT: She lived in Belleau Wood. She said when she called/ went and looked at places she ask them if they allowed chinchillas and explained to them that they were caged pets.

Hope that helps

Thanks for all the info! I checked into those apartments but can't seem to find them. I have called over 15 apartment complexes in Lexington and only 1 apartment allows chinchillas. I even explained to all of the other apartments that don't allow them that my chinchilla stays in a cage and they insisted she was like a ferret and said I would let her out to run on the floor in which they would have to replace the carpet and anything she chewed. If anyone knows of any other apartments even close to the city that would be greatly appreciated!

I currently live 2.75 hrs away from Lexington (3 hrs for those who drive the speed limit). I went to college at EKU in Richmond so I'd go to Lexington often. Lexington is from my experience a cleaner town than Louisville. Versailles is really nice...or was the last time I was up that way.

Here's some things I found (places in Lexington who claim to be Pet Friendly:

I'm sure there's more, just google "Lexington KY pet friendly apartments." That's what I did. :)
