Well... We had our ultrasound on Tuesday. We still do not know what our "sesame seed" is although Keith almost caved in! Everything is developing normally and looks good, but I have to go back in 4 weeks for a growth check since the baby is measuring small... This doesn't worry me too much, as I was a small baby. As usual, for anyone who has me on facebook, and has seen my posts in the past... he or she refused to cooperate... So these are the best pictures we got...

Hopefully we can get some better pictures next time!

Aw, how fun! We have our ultrasound tomorrow. I'm hoping ours cooperates so we can find out the gender. I want to know but hubby doesn't. I say too bad!

Good luck, Alli! I want to know... but don't want to. Keith is keeping me on the 'green' path so he can't cave or I will too.

Haha, well, yeah, I mean he could not find out and I find out, only I like to sew so after we find out I'm going to be making a ton of baby stuff. And I know my sister and mom want to buy baby stuff, so he'd be able to figure it out pretty easily ;)

I love the pics, Ash, so much better than I was preggo. We found out as soon as we could...I'm not very patient and just had to know. But both boys were very forward about their gender as well, so there was no mistaking what they were, lol.

Omg I don't know how you can take not knowing lol it would drive me crazy! My brother and his wife are expecting their first but they're only 11 weeks. They're going to find out when they can, good thing cause this aunt is very impatient haha

We had our follow up on Tuesday. Our munchkin is still just that... an itty bitty munchkin. The midwife said I'm in the 6th percentile for growth, meaning the baby is on the small side. Doesn't bother or surprise me any... I was 2 weeks late and didn't weigh much over 6lbs. I can't wait for June to get here!

Ok gals... I'm in need of some advice...

Today, 1 week after my follow up scan, my midwife calls and leaves me the voicemail "Everything looks OK but we think you should see a fetal specialist." I called her back to get more information... Apparently, she was talking over my scan results with other techs and doctors and would like me to see a group of specialists (I forget what she called said specialists) for ANOTHER ultrasound to check fetal growth. I asked again that everything is alright, and confirmed that it's just a "size issue" and she said that was correct. She wants me to see the specialists because the baby is small, no other reason.

My question/worry. Should I go? If everything is OK, and growth is normal, just small, what can they really do for me aside from what she's already done and tell me that I'm having a small baby? I'm all for ultrasounds. I have no problems with getting another peek at my munchkin, but if it's something that's useless, why do it? I know my baby is growing. My belly is becoming more prominent, and my baby is definitely an active one. I watched my stomach moving for the first time on Wednesday. Obviously, there's no issues there.

Has anyone experienced anything similar to this situation? What can they really do for you? My boyfriend said a co-worker's daughter-in-law went through something similar with her pregnancy and they gave her something to make the baby grow. Um, if this is what they're going to offer me, I really don't think so... I'm not going to give my unborn child steroids or something to make it bigger than it should be.... Thoughts, ladies?

Ash not to be alarming but if everything was in fact OK they wouldn't want you to see a specialist. I don't know about this whole midwife craze because I didn't have one I had a doctor, but if a midwife is infact the person you are seeing for your pregnancy and she recommends this it's in your best interest to follow these suggestions. You always have the right to deny any procedure they wish to perform. But if she deems a visit to a specialist is necessary you should go and see what they have to say.

I am inclined to agree with Laurie. I think if it's nothing too invasive or dangerous I think you should go. You can always decline the "miracle grow."

I think I'm going to. If nothing else, they'll be able to (hopefully) confirm whether the baby's growth is normal and just small, or if there's an underlying issue.

It is always better to get checked. Better to be safe and sorry. Often a simple treatment can fix a major issue. And sometimes they worry for nothing. I had a simple thyriod issue, that didnt affect me until I got pregnant. Had we not caught it there may have been major issues. but all that it took to fix it was one little pill in the morning. I also had a scare with one of my levels really really high...simple fix again I wasn't drinking enough water (juice dehydrates you just so you know stick to water and gatoraide) But I had to go to independant labs and specialist because they thought I was developing preaclamsia...They were getting prepared to take her as soon as I was 35 weeks.

If I hadn't gone to the specialists we would not have realized I was just dehydrated. With pregnancy that little life is worth the extra concern and just making sure. If the baby is too small you may be deficient in some nutrient or hormone that a vitamin or something simple can fix.

Edited to add..they were concerend about the size of my sisters baby (she is due in March) and it turned out to just be he/she is curled up in there and looks small when measuring

Well, the specialist's office called today. My appointment with them is on Friday. Here's to hoping everything is fine and it is, indeed, worrying for nothing.

Just to put it out there & not that my issue was the same as yours but the triple screen test I had done with my last pregnancy came back abnormal so I had to see a maternal fetal specialist as well. The specialist basically measured the baby from top to bottom via the ultrasound. He didn't see anything abnormal with my baby but to make sure everything was fine, he also did an amniocentesis to confirm.

I'm sure everything is fine with the baby Ash :)).
