I lurk here quite a bit but I never bothered introducing myself. I'm Rachel, and I currently have a hedgehog, two crested geckos, two males bettas, a female betta, a cat, rats, and a Rose Hair Tarantula. And in the near future, possibly a chin.

I love browsing the forums and learning as much as possible :D

Hiii!

Male bettas have very long flowing fins. Females are much duller. Here are the pics of my male and female. Male first and female is the second pic. I put them as links because the pics are kind of large.

And as requested, here's my tarantula!

:welcomewagon:

Just curious, how do you tell if a betta is a male or female? :hmm:

as said, male bettas are much prettier than the females. I've always gotten male bettas. But you can't put two together, or they will fight. You can get them to flare up by showing them their reflection in a mirror...of course, I would never do something like that! lol

Pretty tarantula. What's it like having one? My boyfriend has wanted one for years.... I'm generally arachnophobic though, :-|

Well they're definitely look don't touch pets. I consider them along the same lines as keeping a reptile or a fish except much less maintenance then either of those. Yes, you can handle some species and some individuals but I just have no interest. They're very simple and honestly, it's like having a pet rock. He doesn't do much. It's interesting to watch them eat and they're just awesome to look at in my opinion. But they aren't too exciting :D
