Constant humping

I may have a stupid question but does the male only hump when the female is in heat or does he do it all the time? I have a pair now that the female is pregnant but the male won't leave her alone. I know I should separate them but when I do they both stop eating and get very depressed. Any advice?

Separate them, they won't let themselves starve. They will get over it

You can provide her with a hiding box. A duster or box she can turn around and give him grief.
Better to just separate. Can introduce them again after she has weaned and had some time off. If not separated or run door shut, he will try and mate her as soon as she litters. That's when kits can be trampled by accident. I know of no breeder who has had chins starve themselves over separation. They get over it.
